Guitar Beginnings
Since 1985 I have enjoyed playing the guitar and making music. When I was given the opportunity to teach others, I decided to create my own instruction materials and focus on making the learning experience as easy as possible for the student. I am constantly adapting to my students needs within the framework of the method I developed; always learning from an individual’s lesson how to communicate an idea more effectively. This is how my books, Magee’s Creative Guitar Series, came about.
My Teaching Philosophy
It is my aim to help students grasp the keys of understanding how music works
using the guitar, so they can unlock their playing potential in any music style they choose.
I do not focus on song learning with rote memorization, but rather instruct students to hear
the patterns in music and be able to pick them out in any song or instrumental they listen to.
My hope is for them to be more confident at learning new music and even using their own

This is what I have spent the past 25+ years developing. As a teacher, I strive to make
the learning enjoyable and easy so my students can see their progress and feel their capabilities growing.

My Guitar History Time line
- 1985~ Started Playing Guitar
- 1988~ Attended Guitar Institute Technology in Hollywood, CA.
- 1989~ Started teaching full time at Weathers Music, Salem OR.
- 2005~ Expanded teaching to the McMinnville area
- 2009~ Expanded teaching to evenings at Creative Guitar Studio in S.Salem
- 2012~ Weathers closes its doors after 60 years of business
- July 2012~ full time at Magee's Creative Guitar Studio (otherwise known as Creative Guitar Studio)
